Intensive Russian Strikes Cut Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has increased attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to local officials.

Local officials said the urban area endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were hurt.

The assaults come after nights of air raids in the region, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

He said energy workers and officials were preparing for further attacks.
