Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
